Managing Change
“Identify the specific new behaviours and attitudes that will be necessary to make the changes work. These are what transition will be producing if it’s going to work, and talking about them will make it far more likely that they will emerge. Talking in general terms about becoming ‘Cutting Edge’ and ‘World Class’ doesn’t say anything. William Bridges Gillian works with individuals and teams to enable change and manage transition in organisations. It is common for performance to dip during times of change. As change becomes a constant it is important to appreciate ways to lead and manage ourselves and others to cope with the change and make it work positively. Studying with Linda Kirby, (Author of Challenge of Change in Organisations). Gillian became interested in how organisations are obsessed with change and how people easily become worn out when managers fail to understand the transition process. Lindas references to William Bridges Transition model in her book and links to Myers Briggs began to make real sense. Transition really means a psychological process that people go through whenever their lives are interrupted by change. Bridges talks about it as a reorientation and renewal process. Gillian enjoys talking about Managing Transition and includes this in Change Management Programmes whenever possible. Gillian plans to study with William Bridges in Boston USA, this autumn and become a fully licensed practitioner.
